Title: Registered prosthetic technician (r.t.p.) (Osseointegration Technologist)
Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full Time, Day
Salary: $30.90 to $39.71 Hourly for 38.75 hours per week, Other Benefits, Medical Benefits, Dental Benefits, Disability Benefits, Life Insurance Benefits, Group Insurance Benefits, Pension Plan Benefits, RRSP Benefits, As per collective agreement
Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible
Location: Edmonton, Alberta (1 vacancy)
Skill Requirements:
Education: Completion of high school, Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training
Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): Not applicable
Experience: 3 years to less than 5 years
Languages: Speak English, Read English, Write English
Work Setting: Hospitals, Prosthetics and orthotics laboratories
Area of Specialization: Prosthetics
Specific Prosthetists and Orthotists Skills: Design, build, fit and repair prosthetic and orthotic appliances, Examine and measure patients to develop working sketches of appliances, Surface finishing, mould making and polymerization techniques, Interpret physician's specification, Make and modify plaster casts
Specific Prosthetic and Orthotic Technician Skills: Repair, build and modify prosthetic or orthotic appliances or footwear, Assemble or build prosthetic and orthotic appliances according to drawings, measurements and plaster casts
Security and Safety: Bondable, Criminal record check, Immunization records, Tuberculosis test
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Manual dexterity, Attention to detail, Hand-eye co-ordination, Walking, Bending, crouching, kneeling, Combination of sitting, standing, walking, Ability to distinguish between colours, Work under pressure
Essential Skills: Reading text, Document use, Numeracy, Writing, Oral communication, Working with others, Problem solving, Decision making, Critical thinking, Job task planning and organizing, Finding information, Computer use, Continuous learning
Other Information:The Osseointegration Technologist is responsible for: fabrication of intra-oral, extra-oral, and facial prosthetics; and design and fabrication of autogenous ear reconstruction planning.
