Skill Requirements:


Education: Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training


Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): Licensure by the appropriate province or territory of work, Eligible for licensure as a practical nurse by the province/territory of work, Basic cardiac life support (BCLS), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate, First Aid Certificate


Experience: 1 to less than 7 months


Languages: Speak English, Read English, Write English


Work Setting: Home care or visiting care agency, Home for the aged, Nursing or convalescent home


Area of Specialization: Geriatrics, Medical unit, Psychiatry, Rehabilitation unit, General duty


Registered Nursing Assistant Specific Skills: Take patients' blood pressure, temperature and pulse, Distribute medication to patients, Change patients' dressings, Provide pre-operative and post-operative personal and comfort care, Monitor established respiratory therapy and intravenous therapy, Provide safety and health education to individuals and their families, Bathe and dress patients, Assist registered nurses with various medical procedures


Operating Room Technician Specific Skills: Prepare patients for surgery by washing, shaving and sterilizing operative areas


Additional Skills: Monitor patients' progress and report any changes


Security and Safety: Basic security clearance, Criminal record check, Drug test, Tuberculosis test
